The Instrumentation Engineering Department was established in the year 1992 with an intake capacity of 20 students to meet the demand of Instrumentation Engineers for different industries such as oil, paper, tea, fertilizer etc. situated in North Eastern (N.E.) Region of India. 

This was the first institute in N.E region of the country to offerfour year B.E programme in Instrumentation Engineering. The courses are approved by AICTE, New Delhi. In the year 2009, AICTE has approved to increase the intake capacity of Instrumentation Engineering to 30. The courses are affiliated under Dibrugarh University, Assam. The department admits the students into the programme through a Common Entrance Examination conducted by the Government of Assam and Lateral Entry i.e. getting admitted to the B.E. programs in 3rd semester is through Lateral Entrance Examination.

The course structure and syllabi of the subjects are modified at a regular interval of time to incorporate the recent developments in science & technology. Moreover department also gives emphasis to incorporate all the topics which are included in the syllabi of different all India level competitive examinations such as GATE, IES, IAS etc. in the present syllabi of Instrumentation Engineering. In addition to this, regular industrial visits are conducted for the students.

To be a pre-eminent Department of studies in Instrumentation Engineering by imparting quality teaching to meet the needs of industry and society.

1. To produce instrumentation engineers having strong theoretical foundation.

2. To keep abreast with latest development in academics/industry and continuously upgrade the skills of students in instrumentation engineering and technology for better employability.

3. Inspiring students for higher education and research.

4. To be a place for innovation and technology development in frontier areas of Instrumentation Engineering for the benefit of society and the region.

 

        PEOs

 

         PEO 1: The students will be able to apply knowledge of mathematics, science and engineering to the fields related to instrumentation and control.

 

         PEO 2: The students will be able to apply new and emerging technologies to analyse, design, implement and provide solutions to problems appropriate to the discipline.

 

         PEO3: The students will be industry ready with adequate hands –on experience on instrumentation techniques.
